How we verify listings
This is a small, hand-checked directory. Here is exactly what a listing means and what it doesn’t.
What gets listed
- Checked on the groomer’s own website, or on a chain’s official store page (PetSmart, Petco, Dogtopia).
- For mobile groomers, a town appears only if the groomer’s own site names it as a service area.
- Every listing shows the date we last checked it.
What is held back
- Businesses we couldn’t confirm on their own website (27 right now): found only on third-party directories or social media, own site unreachable, or the site doesn’t confirm dog grooming. Third-party data is sometimes wrong. One directory linked a Yonkers groomer to a website for a different business near Rochester. These go live once we confirm them, or once the owner contacts us.
- Booking marketplaces (such as Groomit) aren’t counted as groomers. We mention them separately.
What we don’t do
- No Google star ratings, review counts, or copied reviews. Each listing links to Google Maps instead.
- No opening hours unless the groomer publishes them, and no prices unless the groomer publishes them.
- No written “descriptions” of businesses. You see the facts and where they came from.
- No paid placement. Listings are alphabetical.
- We don’t show license or insurance claims we haven’t checked. Ask the groomer directly.
Town pages
A town gets its own page only when it has at least 5 checked groomers (salons located there plus mobile groomers whose own site names it). Smaller towns share a grouped page: Greenburgh, Hartsdale, Ardsley, Elmsford & Hastings-on-Hudson; Valhalla & Briarcliff Manor; Bronxville & Mount Vernon; Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Rye & Port Chester. Other towns that groomers name on their own sites (such as Amawalk, Armonk, Bedford) are noted on nearby town pages and on the mobile grooming page until they reach 5 checked groomers.
Who runs this
Westchester Groomers is an independent directory. It is not affiliated with any groomer. More on the About page.
Corrections
Owners can fix or add details for free. See add or correct a listing. We verify requests by replying to an email address at the business’s own domain, or by checking the business’s website.
